No More Big Bang: Make Your Releases Bulletproof

Have you ever needed to stop a release of your microservice and had to wait until other parts of the system got released first? Have you ever needed to roll back to the previous version of your service because its API wasn’t compatible with the consumers? Have you ever experienced code freezes? Chances are, you have experienced many of those, but there is good news: in most situations, you can avoid those issues and obtain truly independent deployments and releases. Many patterns and strategies can help you untangle your dependency on changes in other services (and vice versa) and make your team's life much easier and less stressful. You will hear about API versioning, API Evolution Patterns, Contract Testing, Database Migrations and more. During this talk, you will learn the fundamentals of introducing changes in APIs and database in a way that is backward and forward compatible, how to prevent broken integrations with other services and frontend applications. I will show the proper mindset of a developer, automatic ways to prevent those issues, and tools that can help you with that. I look forward to seeing you at my talk!

CTO, Architect, Tech Lead, IT Trainer

I’m a CTO of Sparkbyte Solutions, co-owner of Trainitek, and an architect and tech lead at Mintra. I have 19 years of experience, mainly in the Java world. I’ve spent a lot of time mentoring developers and leading teams, with a big focus on creating solutions that will actually last for many years. That got me into Software Craftsmanship, Domain-Driven Design, and code quality early on. Over my career, I’ve completed many small and large projects that run in production, interviewed developers, handled communication with customers, designed architecture for entire systems and delivered them, and introduced many technologies proven in production. I have 15 years of experience working in the Scandinavian market. I’ve trained over 700 people in modern architecture, Domain-Driven Design, EventStorming, and testing, and regularly speak at software development conferences.
